Youth
At BOCF youth we exist to help young people meet, understand, believe in and follow God, through teaching, worship, socialising and connecting with other groups and events.
Closer together and closer to God: it’s who we are and what we do.
Sunday School runs for our younger children, from the ages of 4 to 11. In the old days, every week would be pretty much the same, with a game, a Bible story, answer some questions and that would be about it! Nowadays, we still keep the Bible stories but intersperse quizzes, crafts, cake decorating and anything else we can think of to make the time exciting and interesting. Along with Kidz Klub, Sunday School’s the focus of everything we do for our youngsters, so we’re trying to make it the best it can be.
Each Sunday morning, our Youth meet to learn, discuss, pray and have fun together. If we can help young people to meet, understand, believe in and crucially follow God, then we’ve done something worthwhile. Recent topics include the discipleship course, “Freedom in Christ” and a series on “Relationships”. Most Sunday evenings, we take those who are available to “Soul Survivor” in Watford. Closer together and closer to God: it’s who we are and what we do. Our vision
The Fridge Club is on hold for the moment. Please contact the church for details.
The Fridge is an old-fashioned youth club open to Burnt Oak’s under-18s. We have board games, console games, music, a tuck shop and some friendly helpers – it’s not rocket science, just a great way to get to know some of the local kids who don’t come to anything else. We only open once a month at the moment, but every now and then we throw in an extra session for a special occasion.
Around 3 or 4 times a year, our Youth group takes the main Sunday Service. This gives our teenagers the opportunity to share their skills, deepen their faith and air the issues that matter to them. It also gives them the chance to be a bit creative and gets young people trying new things, which is pretty exciting!. These services are a great antidote for anyone who’s ever thought, “church is boring; why can’t it be more like this…?”
Going away might just be the best thing you ever do with God! Yes, it can be tricky to arrange, might need a bit of saving up, and might be tiring once you get there, but it’s a great chance to forget the usual stresses of life and find some space to get closer to God. In the past few years we’ve gone to all corners of the UK for holidays, inspiration, sports, nachos and music festivals. Whether it’s a day out or a week away (or 6 months overseas if you’re really up for it!), there are plenty of ways to serve, grow and be entertained.
